The Best Plants to Have on Your Kitchen Countertop

Having plants in your kitchen is great to not only add a pop of color but also breathe some new energy into your home. Plants can serve as the perfect decor for a kitchen or help the healthy air filtration as well. If you have a kitchen with a lot of natural light and space, whether you love succulent plants, cacti, or seed plants, we’ve got something for everyone on this list.

Our experts here at Planet Stone have put together this list of plants that not only will look great on your kitchen countertops but also on those that are easy to care for.

  1. Pothos
    1. Pothos is one of the easiest plants to take care of in any environment. If you have a kitchen that doesn’t allow much light, this plant is perfect as it thrives in moderate light, but it will adjust to the low light in due time. Pothos is on the popular list because it can be grown in wet or dry soil. The gorgeous leaves bounce off the granite countertops without any effort and grow and blossom at different parts of the year. Once the plant gets too big and begins taking up a lot of counter space, you can change it to a hanging plant. Propagating this plant is also not hard, which makes it beneficial if you are looking to grow your collection of plants.
  2. Aloe Vera
    1. Aloe Vera has become increasingly popular over the last few years, and deservedly so! They are one of the easiest plants to take care of; they prefer to be left alone. Other than easy care, they provide tons of health benefits like antioxidants properties, antibacterial properties, and accelerating wound healing. Bright light and letting it dry out between waterings will be key for this one as it does not like to be soggy at all. These plants can grow tall and strong, so as a centerpiece on your countertop, they will stand out and showcase many personalities.
  3. Venus Flytrap
    1. If you are having trouble with fruit flies or bugs coming near a window, the Venus flytrap is the most popular carnivorous option! Sometimes this plant gets a bad wrap as it is not the easiest to grow, but if you have experience under your belt, then you won’t have any problems. They need direct sunlight for positive growth, so a window sill is perfect! Without the proper care, the leaves will begin to appear weak and flop over on the sides. Not only will this plant grow and shine in your kitchen, but it will add personality and color.

  4. String of Pearls
    1. If you have high ceilings and an open space concept, then the string of pearls will fit beautifully in your home. This free-flowing, cascading succulent is truly one of a kind. If you have a classic, white countertop, then the bright green fast-growing plant will only add to the aesthetic you are trying to achieve. Bright indirect light is perfect for these succulents as they can get burnt and dried out very easily. Depending on the season, the string of pearls requires different amounts of water and can easily be overwatered, so you have to be conscious of how much and often you water this plant. When this plant chooses to bloom, it releases a scent that can be compared to cinnamon which will add a unique warming smell to your home.

These plants have different requirements, so read more about their individual needs and wants is important to their growth. Other various plants are read out there to research and learn about to add some value to your home. Knowing what you can maintain and, take care of is important to figuring out the right plant for you.
