How to Add Luxury to Your Kitchen With Granite Countertops

Who doesn’t dream of a luxury kitchen? There’s something about kitchens that attracts us all — even people who don’t cook very often. Perhaps it’s because kitchens mean food and food has been bringing people together for thousands of years.

Have you been dreaming of ways to add some pizzazz to your kitchen? Adding some granite countertops could be just the thing. Read on to learn about the benefits of granite and how it can give your kitchen a more luxurious look.

Luxury Look

We’ll start with the obvious one — granite looks luxurious. If we asked you to drop what you’re doing and describe a luxury kitchen, you’d immediately mention granite countertops. The rich colors, intricate patterns, and smooth surface just scream luxury!

Unique Appearance

As a natural stone product, no two pieces of granite will ever be exactly alike. The colors and patterns from different slabs can be similar, but they won’t have the uniform look of a manufactured product.

This is a big part of all luxury products. It’s just doesn’t seem as luxurious when everybody else has the exact same thing. But with so many colors to choose from and the natural variance of each piece, there are plenty of unique granite looks to go around!

High Quality

Granite is quite hardy and resistant to heat and moisture problems. It is stone after all and was created to withstand the rigors of outdoor life in oftentimes inhospitable conditions of scorching sun and driving rain.

There is one caveat, granite is porous and must be properly sealed. Lacking this seal, the stone will soak up liquid spills. If the spill was made by something dark-colored like red wine or tomato sauce, the stain will be nearly impossible to remove.

With a proper seal, it’s easy to keep your granite looking pristine for decades!

Longevity

In terms of hardness, granite ranks second only to the snazzier (and considerably more expensive) diamond. As a result, granite countertops are very resistant to chipping and scratching under normal use.

It’s still a good idea to use a chopping board for tasks that involve knives, but you can expect a properly installed granite countertop to last for years. It’s not uncommon for these countertops to still be going strong 30 years later!

Surprisingly Inexpensive

This all sounds great, but how much does it cost? The luxurious look and feel of granite make it seem like it would be cost-prohibitive to many people.

However, that isn’t necessarily the case. The price of the granite varies depending on the color you choose as well as the thickness of the slab. Here at Planet Stone, we offer granite countertops as low as $34.99 per sq foot installed!
