How to Repair Chipped Countertops

Uh oh… You just dropped a very heavy cast-iron skillet onto your countertop by mistake and you heard a crack that definitely didn’t sound good. Sure enough, there’s a sizable chip on the edge of the countertop. What should you do? Panic? Throw a fit? No need for that. Fixing a granite countertop is easier than you think. There are some simple ways to repair your broken countertop and we’ll talk you through some of the options.

Store-bought Stone Countertop Repair Kits.

This option is one of the most popular. If you have a chipped countertop , head to your nearest home improvement store or head to Amazon.com to get yourself a stone counter repair kit. These kits typically come with epoxy, resin, or acrylic gels along with some tools that you can use to fill in the crack and make your countertop look like new again. Using these repair kits isn’t too hard, so you can fix your broken countertop in no time! You can find some of these kits here: https://bsyl.ink/RepairKits

The Super Glue Method.

In a pinch, you can repair small chips and cracks with super glue . You’ll need to clean your chipped countertop with nail polish remover before you start if you want the super glue to hold. Use tape around the edges of the chip or crack and fill it up with glue until just a bit is higher than the rest of your countertop. Let the super glue dry completely before you move on to the next step. Peel off thetape and use a razor blade to scrape off the excess glue. If your counter is a darker color, you can use a permanent marker to color match if necessary. You can choose to leave your countertop like this, or you can add a bit of sheen paint over it. It is also a good idea to call in the professionals if you truly want the chip repaired. A broken countertop is bad news and you want to get the problem fixed as effectively as possible.

If chips keep happening or can’t be repaired, turn to a quality installer.

Broken countertops are not common if you use granite, marble, quartz, or other stones. If it becomesa regular problem or one that cannot be remedied, it’s time to renovate. If you want to fix your granite countertop once and for all, you’ll need to invest in a good slab.
